RUMFORD — Past River Valley Rotary Club President Peter Cox was named the club’s 2021 Rotarian of the Year in December for his involvement in a large variety of community projects.
Also honored was Roger Whitehouse, who was named River Valley Rotary Citizen of the Year for 2021.
Cox exemplifies the meaning of volunteering, giving and putting others ahead of himself.
Whitehouse was also recognized for giving back to his community, including taking charge of the annual winterization project to help the elderly; being the chair for collecting crutches, canes and walkers for the Crutches4Africa procect; raising money for local homeless shelters; donating to the Polio Foundation and being a major donator to the Paul Harris Foundation.
Also in December, the River Valley Rotary Club raised $570 during its annual Christmas Luncheon, a sum matched by the club with resulted in a donation of $1,140 to local food pantries.
