Maine fiber artist submissions sought for ‘Red Thread of Fate’ exhibition

HALLOWELL – Fiber artists are invited to submit artwork for “The Red Thread of Fate: A Fiber Exhibition.”
The exhibition is open to all Maine artist working with fiber. Deadline is Jan. 1, and juror is fiber artist Sara Hotchkiss.
The exhibition will be on view Jan. 28 to Feb. 26, at The Harlow Gallery, 100 Water St., with an opening reception from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4.
“The Red Thread of Fate,” also referred to as the Red Thread of Marriage, and other variants, is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese mythology. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.
