Kennebec, Lincoln SWCD working groups to discuss Farm Bill priorities Jan. 5 via Zoom

AUGUSTA — USDA funding for Kennebec and Lincoln counties will be the focus of the local working group Kennebec and Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation Districts Jan. 5 via Zoom.
The meeting will be held In cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service field office.
Local working groups make recommendations to NRCS on how to spend USDA Farm Bill money for conservation practices on private land. This year’s meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 5. Agricultural producers, foresters, loggers and private woodland owners, as well as members of environmental or watershed organizations and land trusts are invited to attend. Topics range from soil, water, plant, wetland or wildlife science to agricultural and natural resource concerns in Kennebec and Lincoln counties.
Attendees will identify and prioritize local conservation concerns and recommend how local money for USDA Environmental Quality Incentive Programs will be distributed by NRCS to alleviate problems.
