WATERVILLE – Ware-Butler has pledged $100,000 in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth & Community Center Community Recreation Arena Campaign.
The announcement was made Nov. 28 at AYCC, 126 North St.
In November 2020, Richard Giguere, president of Ware-Butler, worked with the co-presidents of Pleasant River Lumber in Dover-Foxcroft, Chris and Jason Brochu, to join forces. A part of this new phase of Ware-Butler Inc. includes giving back to the community, which has resulted in sponsoring the arena project.
In 2019, a $1,000,000 pledge from Doug and Rita Sukeforth’s Family Foundation kicked off its capital campaign to build the combination ice skating rink and turf arena, which will ve available year-round for all members of the community.
The Waterville’s City Council recently approved a $2,000,000 bond towards enhancing recreation services at North Street and West River Road, which creates the location for the building the arena. To date, $3,000,000 has been raised towards the project.
