AUGUSTA — Critical issues relating to mental health in Maine will at “Mental Health Summit: Reimagining Mental Health Services in Maine,” a one-day conference for providers, consumers, advocates and legislators to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive, Augusta.
The summit, which is free of charge, is sponsored by Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services, Maine; Behavioral Health Community Collaborative; Consumer Council System of Maine; NAMI Maine; and Pathways of Maine. The keynote speaker, via Zoom, is Chuck Ingoglia, president/CEO of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
The summit is being held at a time when the global pandemic has rocked the nation’s mental health and health services. “The pandemic has exacerbated our nation’s mental health and substance-use crisis. It also has made it more difficult for treatment organizations to provide clients the care they need and deserve,” Ingoglia said. “This crisis demands that we find solutions that allow clients to get the treatment they need, and provide organizations the resources they require to attract and retain staff in a competitive marketplace.”
