Skating Association of Maine names Ellis skating director

HALLOWELL – The Skating Association of Maine has named Mark Ellis as skating director for the association’s Learn to Skate program and figure skating operations.
As a competitive skater, Ellis won a bronze medal at the 2006 U.S. Figure Skating Adult National Championships in Dallas, Texas.
“I am pleased and excited to help SAM reboot Learn To Skate USA following the pandemic shutdown of 2020,” Ellis said. “Skaters are clearly excited and ready to return to the ice to reacquaint themselves with what they’ve already learned and to acquire new skating skills.”
Ellis, of Hallowell, has coached in learn-to-skate programs for 25 years in central and coastal Maine. He was also president of SAM’s predecessor organization, the Skating Club of Maine.
SAM, which holds programs at the Camden Bank Ice Vault, 203 Whitten Road, has a free Learn to Play program. All other programs, including Learn to Skate, have registration fees. For more information, visit maineskaters.com
