When Lyon Construction owner Cody Lyon learned that his childhood ballfield was in tremendous disrepair because of lack of time, resources and attention after a challenging year of COVID-19, Lyon stepped up to the plate and offered his craft and expertise to bring the field back to its former glory.
Royce Watson initiated the ground-breaking of thes project and assembled a starting lineup of like-minded professionals willing to donate their time and resources to revitalize the field. Scott Lanpher of Maine Equipment provided the equipment to complete the project.
Lyon’s knowledge and skill was evidenced by the quality of his work, including resurfacing the entire infield, redoing the base paths, and planting all new grass. Kennebec Savings Bank donated $5,000 for a new scoreboard to complete the project.
“I remember what it was like to step out onto a freshly mowed field for my baseball games as a kid,” Lyon said. “These kids have already missed out on so much during the global pandemic, the least we can do is give them a ball field to enjoy.”
When a community comes together, it’s a home run. See the newly revitalized field at the Manchester Elementary School. For more information on Lyon Construction, call 207-485-4009 and for Maine Equipment Rental, call 207-621-2160.
