MADISON — Shay Cyrway, a member of Boy Scout Troop 419 has been been named an Eagle Scout.
Shay, 14, completed the requirements and was examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review before officially being awarded the rank at an April 22 ceremony at the Embden Community Center. The Eagle Scout rank is the Boy Scouts of America’s highest achievement.
Shay’s Eagle project was to improve the wildlife habitat along a nature trail at Pomerlow Park in Madison, including installing 12 bluebird houses and five wood duck nesting boxes.
“Shay’s steady and persistent progress through the ranks to achieve this prestigious award at the young age 14 demonstrates his hard work and determination to prepare himself as a productive member of society,” said a news release. “Shay’s future plans include remaining in Boy Scouts to help mentor other Scouts and to earn 13 Eagle Palms.” Boy Scout Troop 419 is a member of the Pine Tree Council.
After high school, Shay has an interest in attending college to become an aerospace engineer.
