Buckfield Legion Post 58 commemorates Veterans Day

Dec. 12020

Buckfield American Legion Post 58 honored all veterans, past and present, on at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, by ringing the bell in the tower of the Old Church on the Hill 11 times. Veterans Day, or Armistice Day as it was called until 1954, originally commemorated the end of World War I on that date and time. It later was expanded in the U.S. to honor veterans of all wars. Pictured at the church (above) are post Chaplain Bill Rice; Merton Jones, past post commander; Jim Lowell, post commander; Gloria Hall and Sandra Perkins, church committee member. Pictured at the honor roll monument (not shown) below are Rice, Lowell and Jones. (Submitted photo)
