AUGUSTA — Would you like to have a vehicle that gets 1,800 miles per gallon? The Natural Resources Council of Maine is raffling an ELF, powered by solar and pedal power and dubbed “the most efficient vehicle on the planet,” to raise funds to help “protect the nature of Maine.” This ELF is nearly-new and valued at more than $3,500, with a retail cost of more than $7,000, if new. Raffle tickets are $40 and must be purchased by Monday, May 8, at nrcm.salsalabs.org/energyraffle; only 300 will be sold. The drawing is May 12, and all raffle proceeds help expand clean energy in Maine and beyond.
The second-place winner will receive a free energy audit, valued at $400, from The Breathable Home in Central Maine, or from Penobscot Home Performance in Penobscot County. Four runner-ups will receive either a copy of “Eaarth: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet” by Bill McKibben, “The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars” by Michael Mann, or a DVD of either “Chasing Ice” or “Before the Flood.”
