WATERVILLE — The Waterville Public Library has a solid lineup of events planned for everyone from babies to adults for the remainder of February.
Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and open to the public at the library, 73 Elm St.
KIDS AND TEENS
Camp Create — New for ages 11 to 14 years old, for kids who want to do things like make their own game set in an alternate reality, make a new cool animation of their name, make your own story with characters they like, and more. The program teaches kids how to use the online platform Scratch to work on their ideas. It’s for both beginners and experts. Camp Create meets from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
Satur-Play is from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Children’s Room. Topics this month are Game Day, Feb. 22, and Leap Year Tea Party (advance registration requested), Feb. 29.
Crafternoons are 2:30 to 4 on Tuesday. Topics this month are Feb. 25, Carnival Paper Plate Mask. Children under 7 must be accompanied by a grown-up helper.
Homeschool Hub is 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays, with an activity in the children’s department for attendees in 1st-6th grades, and an activity in the Bartlett Room for 6th-12th grades. The activity changes every week. Topics this month are Feb. 27, Citizen Scientist with Serena Sanborn, for all age groups.
Rhymetime for babies, toddlers and their grownups, meets from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Fridays in the Children’s Department. Topics this month are Feb. 21, Letter Y; Feb. 28, Letter Z.
The library offers teen movie nights for ages 11-18, Thursdays at 4 p.m. The movie changes every week, and teen game nights from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday
ADULT PROGRAMS
Ukele Group is 5:30 to 7 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Participants at the informal group learn from each other and enjoy strumming and singing all kinds of music. Coaching is available and there are instruments to try for those who don’t have their own.
Craft Club for Adults meets at 5 p.m. Tuesdays. The goal is for adults to try new arts and crafts techniques. The projects focus more on having fun and being creative with the materials than on the outcome. For ages 18 and older. Feb. 25 topic is clothespin magnets.
Adults looking for jobs can make appointments with the job search resource navigator for between 1 and 5 p.m. Tuesdays.
There is also a Job Search Lab, 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, open to job seekers of all backgrounds with no appointment necessary. The lab offers ideas to improve your job search, work on your resume/cover letter, and learn about education and training options available in the area. The lab is staffed by Augusta Career Center, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education, and New Ventures Maine.
