L.C. Bates Museum marks Smithsonian Museum Day Sept. 21

FAIRFIELD — The L.C. Bates Museum will celebrate Smithsonian Museum Day on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Smithsonian Museum Day is an annual celebration hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. Tickets are available to the public at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday
The L.C. Bates museum will have art supplies, including watercolors and colored pencils, for those wishing to capture their favorite animal or bird in the museum on paper.
A program on birds of prey will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The program will cover adaptations, habitats, migration, calls and more. A scavenger hunt in the museum will follow.
