Waterville FairPoint landline change informational meeting is March 23

PORTLAND — AARP Maine is trying to get the word out to residents of communities that will undergo changes in FairPoint landline telephone service, the organization announced.

FairPoint is making changed in five communities, including Waterville. “Beginning this spring, FairPoint customers in five of Maine’s most populous towns will start to see changes in their basic landline telephone service as new deregulation measures are rolled out,” a news release from AARP Maine said. “The changes can be confusing. AARP Maine is working to ensure that local residents are aware of informational meetings and have access to information about the changes and what it will mean for them.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission will host informational meetings on the changes, which will offer FairPoint customers and other residents the opportunity to ask questions about these changes.

Waterville’s meeting is 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, in City Council Chambers at The Center.

Other communities that will undergo changes are Cape Elizabeth, Gorham, Kennebunk and Scarborough.
