LEWISTON — Several free workshops and courses on managing money will be offered in Oxford, Franklin and Androscoggin counties by New Ventures Maine.
They are free and open to all ages. Registration is required.

April 9 — Your Money Personality, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at School Administrative District 52 Adult Education, 486 Turner St., Turner. Participants will identify their money managing style and learn strategies to better manage money. Register online at newventuresmaine.org. April 11 — Budgeting Basics, 1 to 3 p.m. at the UMA South Paris Center, 256 Main St., South Paris. Participants learn the basic components of building a budget including money tracking, goal setting, challenges, ways to reduce expenses and how understanding an overall financial situation can be helpful in creating a budget that works. April 17 — First Impressions Matter / Resume & Interview Preparation, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the FEDcap office, 1570 Main St., Oxford. Participants will learn tools, resources, and guidance to write an effective resume and to prepare for a successful interview. Register online at newventuresmaine.org. April 22-May 13 — My Next Career Move, 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Monday for four weeks, at USM’s Lewiston/Auburn College, Westmister Street. The four-week class that helps participants prepare for a new career path and reviews skills, interests, personality and experiences and how they relate to occupations as well as identifies educational opportunities, researches the local job market and strengthens resumes. April 23-May 21 — My Money Works will be held at 6 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday for five weeks at the New Ventures Farmington office, 108 Perham St. Suite 2, Farmington. The five-week class can help participants gain the skills needed to stretch money, pay your bills, reduce debt, find money for saving, and set personal financial goals. April 25 — Becoming Self-Employed, 6 to 8 p.m. at RSU 16 Adult Ed, 129 Elm St.
The workshop will help participants decide if self-employment is the right choice and covers the pros and cons of owning a business, the steps needed for startup, the major elements of a business plan and the many resources available. The workshop will be led by Karleen Andrews, microenterprise specialist for the Western Region of New Ventures Maine.
