Velvet Hollow hosts Maine Maple Weekend , March 25, 26

GREENWOOD — Brian and Suzanne Dunham will be presenting maple sugaring demonstrations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Velvet Hollow Sugar Works as part of Maine Maple Weekend, March 25 and 26. They also will offer a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon as well s homemade barbecue Maple Turkey Chili and cornbread from noon to 3 p.m.

Dunham Farm, home of Velvet Hollow Sugar Works, is owned and operated by the Dunhams and has been in the family for more than 100 years with generations of family living in the Greenwood area around Rowe Hill and Christopher Mountain. When Brian Dunham took over the farm, his vision was to bring back its agricultural roots. Today, the couple continues the tradition of stewardship of the land of about 200 acres, sustainably harvesting its natural resources for a variety of products.

Velvet Hollow sells maple syrup products, honey, fresh, gluten-free baked good and mixes and more. They also do custom sawmill work, make and sell beehive assemblies, and hold educational presentations on maple sugaring to local area organizations.
