SOUTH PORTLAND — The Girls Scouts of Maine announced that it will host “Raising Amazing Girls: Bullying,” a workshop that addresses the problem of bullying, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, at The Maine Girls’ Academy in Portland.
Parents, caregivers, teachers and mentors are invited to participate in what the group is calling “an evening of interactive conversation about bullying –what it looks like, how to handle it, and how to prevent it.” Girl Scouts of Maine will share strategies that can be used to help girls to overcome bullying in their own lives, according to a news release from the organization.
“Bullying is one of the many challenges children face today, and can be the most damaging,” said Joanne Crepeau, CEO of Girl Scouts of Maine, in the release. “As the preeminent organization dedicated to girls, Girl Scouts has extensive knowledge and proven strategies, backed by groundbreaking studies by the Girl Scout Research Institute, that can help parents and caregivers help their girl grow into courageous, confident and strong women they are meant to be.”
The Maine Girls’ Academy will also host activities for children in grades kindergarten through eighth, helping them learn how to choose friendship over bullying, the release said.
Registration is required by March 22. The registration fee is $5 for adults, free for children.
