SKOWHEGAN — The Children’s Center has moved to a new location, 188 Madison Ave., Suite 1A from its previous location on Bigelow Hill Road.
“We are excited to be more centrally located for our children and families as well as to be more involved in the local business community,” said Katelyn Pushard, director of development and quality improvement.
The center has completed extensive renovations to the interior and exterior of the building to meet its specific needs, including creating classroom and meeting spaces inside and outdoor playground area in the rear of the building.
The center provides family support services, including an autism program, behavior, support program, and special education services as well as the continuation of targeted case management and caregiver education series.
There are already six children receiving center-based services as part of its autism and behavior support programs, as well as more than 20 children in the targeted case management program.
Ther will also be a fundraiser, Bigelow Brewing for the Children’s Center. The company will donate $1 to the Children’s Center Skowhegan for every pumpkin ale pint sold for the entire month of October.
A special dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Bigelow Brewing to introduce the fundraiser.
The center will partner with the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce for a Business After Hours at the new space 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. The open house will feature catering by the Heritage House and a short ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the chamber.
