Mahoosuc Land Trust ‘Day in the Life’ series wraps up

BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will wrap up its “Day in the Life” speaker series with a presentation by Peter Stowell, who will share “A Day in the Life of our Native American Ancestors” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium.

At the dawn of Maine’s history, more than a dozen Native American tribes occupied the land west of the Kennebec River. Today, they’re all gone and Maine’s remaining four tribes are all in eastern Maine. Find out why. From Farmington, Canton and Auburn to Norridgewock, Pemaquid, York and Fryeburg, the White Man’s presence profoundly affected Maine’s first Americans. Stowell, who is a Bethel native, will reconstruct their whereabouts and explain how they got caught between warring European forces.
