WISCASSET –The Wiscasset Schools Music Department will host an 18-piece big band fundraiser at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Wiscasset Middle High School, 272 Gardiner Road.
Opus One Big Band is made up of musicians from around the state, who make music for the benefit of libraries, churches, schools and other nonprofits.
Student musicians from the WMHS band will join the professionals for a few numbers. Opus One Big Band has been performing for the benefit of others for more than 20 years. Trumpet player Scott Davis said, about the upcoming Wiscasset event, “We’ll be taking the paint off the walls.”
Tickets will be available at the door; $5 for seniors and students, $10 for adults, and $20 for families. People are invited to sit back and enjoy the concert or to get up and dance if they like. There will be a raffle and bake sale as well, and all proceeds are to benefit Wiscasset schools music department.
