WATERVILLE — Local residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a day of cross-country skiing and other winter activities at Quarry Road Trails, 300 Quarry Road, Sunday, Feb 18, beginning at 10 a.m.
It is the third and final Community Ski Free Day scheduled for the 2017-18 winter season.
The Welcome Center will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to provide free snowshoes to loan, ski equipment rentals, snacks and information. Ski and snowshoe trails are open all day throughout the season with lighting on more than a mile of trail for night skiing until 9 p.m. Quarry Road Trails’ state-of-the-art snowmaking system ensures the ski trails are covered, even in periods of low natural snowfall.
Quarry Road’s Winter Fun Day is the February feature event in Inland Hospital’s Let’s Go! Family Fun Series; program participants are encouraged to bring their passports and others can sign up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the event for the free, year-long program offering family-friendly events each month. Activities on Feb. 18 will include skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, winter biking, a winter StoryWalk, snowflake art, and more.
The free community events and the Quarry Road Trails are supported through ski pass sales, donations, collaboration with partnering organizations, and contributions from annual sponsors.

Quarry Road Trails is owned and operated by the city of Waterville, Department of Parks and Recreation, developed in partnership with Friends of Quarry Road. The 200-plus acre property abuts Messalonskee Stream and features more than 10 miles of trails for hiking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing.
