WATERVILLE — A magical season at Kringleville in downtown Waterville saw 1,100 good boys and girls visit Santa Claus and $400 raised for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Santa and Mrs. Claus listened to Christmas wishes as elves Cinnamon and Cinnamon Stick stayed busy in the Kringleville cabin, taking photos of the children who stopped by.
Though toys were popular, many children and adults visited to ask Santa for gifts for the less fortunate and for loved ones to be healthy. Many asked only that Santa would help make sure their family had a good Christmas.
The Children’s Discovery Museum helped organize the event this year. The polar bear, the gingerbread house and the train were a big hit, and local businesses sponsoring Kringleville offered hot chocolate and warm mittens to those waiting in line.
Santa’s own hand-painted ornaments will be on the Kringelville tree again next year to raise money to donate to children who are not feeling well at St. Jude’s.
Kringleville is an annual event that begins with the Parade of Lights the day after Thanksgiving. Once Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive, the festivities begin with visits with the Kringles at their holiday home in Castonguay Square each weekend in December.
Each child who visits Santa Claus at Kringleville received one free storybook, courtesy of the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. Early childhood literacy is a priority of the local business community as it ensures the academic development of the future workforce.
