MEXICO – A Disaster Action Team from the American Red Cross of Maine worked with a family of three over the New Year’s weekend to ensure that they have food, a safe place to sleep and other essentials following a single-family home fire on Swift River Road.
Firefighters from Mexico, Rumford, Dixfield, Peru and Roxbury fought the morning fire, but the house was a total loss authorities said. Neither of the two occupants was injured.
In the days after the fire, the Red Cross remained in contact with the occupants to provide financial assistance and community referrals as they begin to make their road to recovery, the organization said in a news release.
