Waterville runners compete in cross-country meet

Nick Dall and Gwinna Remillard (pictured) were the first Waterville runners to the finish line during a cross-country meet at Maranacook in Readfield on Sept. 1.
Dall placed first overall with a time of 17:51 among 84 runners competing from six schools. Remillard third place overall in the girls race.

Molly McGrail of Maranacook won the race, in 21:48. Surya Amundsen, Soren Nyhus and Andy Chambers were also among the top finishers for Waterville.
The boys team came in third, with 83 points. The Waterville girls finished fourth, and the girls fourth. Lincoln Academy won the boys race, with 30 points; Maranacook placed second, 53; Leavitt was fourth, 100; Oxford Hills, 111; Monmouth, 130; and and Lisbon 202. The girls team came in fourth, with 93 points. Marancook won the girls race, with 20 points, followed by Lincoln Academy, with 66; Monmouth, 92; Oxford Hills, 121 and Winthrop, 133.
