BETHEL — The Museums of the Bethel Historical Society will present a program and book signing entitled “Mount Washington: Narratives and Perspectives,” on Thursday, Sept. 7.
After the society’s annual meeting and pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. Mike Dickerman, of Littleton, N.H., will discuss “Mount Washington: Narratives and Perspectives,” which includes more than 20 previously written pieces inspired by New England’s highest peak that cover nearly every aspect of the mountain’s storied past. Dickerman’s talk will start at 7:30 p.m.
The program is a lead-up to the 2018 MBHS exhibit celebrating the centennial of the White Mountain National Forest, and is free and open to the public.
The society on Saturday, Sept. 16, will present a “Harvest of History,” on Saturday, Sept. 16, launching the “Gould Cabinet,” named for a pioneering teaching tool created in the late 1840s by Nathaniel Tuckerman True (1812-1887), founder and a principal of Gould Academy. The long-term exhibit installation at the Robinson House will allow visitors and Gould alumni to view changing displays of objects, photos, books, and manuscripts from the society’s collection, as well as from the Gould Academy archives, which is on permanent loan for preservation and research purposes.
