TURNER — “The Acadia Files” author and teacher Katie Coppens will conduct fun science experiments with kids of all ages 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Turner Public Library, 98 Matthews Way.
The program is free and open to all. Coppens’ program will be based on experiments readers learn about in “The Acadia Files.”
Coppens has published four volumes of “The Acadia Files,” “Geology is a Piece of Cake” and “Creative Writing in Science,” a guide for teachers, and more. Each volume of “The Acadia Files”helps young readers make discoveries and learn about the scientific method in fun and innovative ways by following the adventures of Acadia, a young scientist. In “Geology is a Piece of Cake,” young bakers learn about rock formation, fossils, and plate tectonics while enjoying some delicious recipes. These highly-rated books are recommended for middle grade students and available through Turner Public Library.
Coppens is a middle school English and science teacher; she lives in Maine with her husband and two children.
