Bridgton Community Center to host AARP Smart Driver course July 27

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Community Center will host the AARP Smart Driver course from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27.
The four-hour refresher course is for experienced drivers 50 and older. Topics include safe driving strategies, defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road.

Casco Village Church annual fair, auction, flea market is July 14

CASCO — The Casco Village Church United Church of Christ will hold its annual Artisan Fair, Auction Board and Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Several central and western Maine students were named to the dean’s and president’s lists at Plymouth State University for the 2018 spring semester.

Poland Spring awards Good Science Scholarships

POLAND SPRING — Poland Spring Water recently awarded 15 Good Science Scholarships of $1,000 each to seniors from four Poland-area high schools.
Each of the seniors is planning to pursue post-secondary education in life science, physical science, earth science, engineering or environmental science or policy.

Raymond Arts Alliance fundraiser will feature Big Band era music

CASCO — In co-operation with the Loo Echo Land Trust, the Raymond Arts Alliance will hold a fundraiser from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Hackers Hill, a privately owned public space offering panoramic views of the Sebago Lakes area.

Bridgton parade to kick off at noon July 4

BRIDGTON — Those taking part in the town’s noon Fourth of July parade should be at the staging site, the Hancock Lumber yard, U.S. Route 302, across from the Hannaford supermarket no later than 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 4, organizers have asked.

CASCO — There will be a public supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, 941 Meadow Road (Route 121).

Raymond church to dedicate panels after two-year effort

RAYMOND — A two-year project by members of the congregation to create colorful window panels depicting seven major passages from the Bible will come to an end Sunday, June 24, when the panels are formally dedicated during the regular Sunday service at Raymond Village Community Church, 27 Main St.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend the service and dedication.

Central Maine trio graduates from Bowdoin College

BRUNSWICK — Students from Auburn, Hebron and Mechanic Falls were among 488 students to be awarded a bachelor of arts degree at Bowdoin College’s commencement ceremony, held May 26.
