Local authors to be part of Day’s Store 60th Birthday gala July 21

BELGRADE — Local authors Maureen Milliken, Earl Smith and Kate Cone will sell and sign their books as part of the festivities at Day’s Store 60th Birthday Party Saturday, July 21.
The book table will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the overall celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

‘The Midwife’s Apprentice’ is July book for Paris Library Novel Idea Book Club

PARIS — Paris Public Library’s “Novel Idea Book Club” will meet discuss “The Midwife’s Apprentice,” when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17.
The historical novel, by Karen Cushman, won a 1996 Newberry Medal.

Two storywalks available this summer for young Rangeley readers

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen’s Association and the Rangeley Public Library are both hosting storywalks, for young readers to enjoy the outdoor as well as literature.
The RRG&SA walk is “Animal Hide and Seek,” by Dahlov Ipcar and is along the Tim Baker Nature Trail.

Author to talk about Continental Divide Trail hike at Oakland Library

OAKLAND — Author Thomas Jamrog will be at the Oakland Public Library to discuss his five months hiking the Continental Divide Trail.
Jamrog, of Lincolnville, will speak at the library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the library, 18 Church St.

Belgrade Lakes Fourth of July book sale is at Community Center

BELGRADE — The Friends of the Belgrade Public Library will hold a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at the Belgrade Center for All Seasons, Route 27.

Central Maine Writers exhibitions, programs scheduled around the region

FAIRFIELD — The Central Kennebec Heritage Council, a group of local museums and historical societies, will host exhibitions across the region this summer with the theme “Central Maine Writes.”
Each of the member institutions has chosen a local Maine author (or authors) to highlight in the summer-long exhibition.

RANGELEY — Author Virginia MacGregor will be at the Rangeley Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, to read from and sign her two newest books, “Wishbones” and “Before I Was Yours.”

Friends of Norway Memorial Library used book sale is July 12-14

NORWAY — The Friends of Norway Memorial Library annual used book sale will begin on Thursday, July 12.
The three-day dale will be 2 to 6 p.m. the first day, as well as Friday, July 13,a and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at the Norway Grange Hall, 15 Whitman St.

Read ME events scheduled for Lithgow Public Library in July, August

AUGUSTA — Lithgow Public Library will celebrate Read ME with Maine-themed events this summer.
Read ME is a statewide program presented in partnership between the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine State Library.
