Rangeley Frog Jumping Contest is Aug. 16

RANGELEY — The annual Frog Jumping Contest will leap onto the scene again at this year’s Blueberry Festival on Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Episcopal Church on Main Street.
All frogs and toads can sign up for the contest starting at 12:30 p.m. The contest begins at 1 p.m.

The record jump is 47.5 inches, but there are also prizes in many different categories.
Contest organizers ask that those entering catch and release their frog or toad in the same location, to keep him or her happy (and alive). Contestants may also arrive early to try to catch their own right at the festival site. A limited supply of buckets and nets are available to borrow, but those who have them should bring thier own.
For more information or to volunteer, call Liz at 207-864-2426. Organizers need catchers, judges, and people to help register contestants.
