Local authors to be part of Day’s Store 60th Birthday gala July 21

BELGRADE — Local authors Maureen Milliken, Earl Smith and Kate Cone will sell and sign their books as part of the festivities at Day’s Store 60th Birthday Party Saturday, July 21.
The book table will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the overall celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Milliken, a Belgrade Lakes resident, is author of the Maine-based Bernie O’Dea mystery series, including “Cold Hard News,” and “No News is Bad News.” The third in the series, which is set in a fictional Franklin County town, is scheduled to be released in the fall by S&H Publishing.
Smith, also of Belgrade Lakes, is retired as dean of the college at Colby and has written five books — two history and three novels, including “Head of Falls,” a work of historical fiction based on Waterville, and “The Dam Committee” and “More Dam Trouble,” which revolve around a small town and its characters. He is published by North Country Press.
Cone, a Waterville resident, is author of “What’s Brewing in New England: A Guide to Brewpubs and Craft Breweries,” published by Down East.
The event celebrates 60 years of current family ownership of iconic Day’s Store at 182 Main St., Belgrade Lakes village and will include food, a dunk take, live music and more.
