Annual 5k Trot for Autism is July 28 in Auburn

AUBURN — The eighth annual 5K Trot for Autism will be held at Whiting Farm, 876 Summer St., Saturday, July 28, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and the race starting at 9 a.m.
The annual race promotes awareness of autism as well as other developmental disabilities and raises approximately $10,000 each year.

The Margaret Murphy Center, owned and operated by John F. Murphy Homes, uses the money for athletic equipment, recreational passes for student families and to stock the food pantry that helps feed students who go to the center.
The co-founders of this once-a-year trot, Sheila Twitchell and Amy Constantine, have now expanded their core team to include Janine Giroux and Jennifer Brienza, who have added creativity, taking the event to the next level. “It’s really not a grueling race but more like a combination of walking, jogging, skipping, running and just having fun for the whole family,” Twitchell says.
Pre-registration is $20 for adults; children under 12 are free. To register, click here.
There will be a bounce house for children, and the trail is new and chiseled out of the Whiting Farm’s pastures and landscapes.
