Gardiner Federal Credit Union donates $23,000 to local nonprofits

GARDINER — The Gardiner Federal Credit Union staff and board members recently presented a total of $23,368.27 to nine area food pantries and organizations providing meals to neighbors with food insecurity.
Every dollar donated to the food pantries provides up to $8 in food, so the impact in the local community is huge, officials said.

GFCU holds a number of fund raising activities, throughout the year, to benefit the Ending Hunger Campaign. These activities include, but are not limited to, their annual yard sale, spaghetti supper, Thanksgiving pie sale, 50/50 raffles, and their cash calendar.
Credit union staff recognizes their members’ generosity and participation in the many fund raising activities, noting 15 percent of Maine households experience food insecurities.
Anyone wishing to support GFCU’s current Ending Hunger Campaign fundraiser may purchase cash calendars, for $10 each, throughout June and July. Calendars are available at Gardiner Federal Credit Union.
