Author, former Maine warden Worcester to speak at Rangeley Public Library

RANGELEY — Author and former game warden Daren Worcester will be at the Rangeley Public Library at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, to discuss his book “Open Season: True Stories of the Maine Warden Service.”

Published by Down East in 2017, the book deals with a time before reality TV, GPS devices and dashboard computers, a time of coming of age for the Maine Warden Service. It was a time when a compass, map and one’s wits were what mattered most in the field. Every day offered the potential for an exciting new adventure, many of which endangered the wardens’ lives.
Worcester is a native of Hanover and a graduate of the University of Maine. He has been published in Backpacker and Down East magazines, and he runs the website northeasthikes.com.
Call 207-864-5529 or stop by the library to sign up. The event is free, but tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
