Red Cross of Maine teams helping Livermore, Augusta families displaced by fires

PORTLAND — The American Red Cross of Maine Disaster Action Team was busy Nov. 21 and 22, helping families from both Livermore and Augusta displaced because of fires in their homes.

In Livermore, the Red Cross was helping a family of two, to ensure that they have food, a safe place to sleep and other essentials following a single-family home fire.

In Augusta, the team was working with a family of eight after their single-family home was also gutted by fire.
The Red Cross planned to remain in contact with both families in the days following the fires, to help with financial assistance and community referrals as they began to make their road to recovery.

The American Red Cross provides food, clothing and emotional support to people affected by home fires and other disasters. Individuals wishing to support Red Cross Disaster Services can call (800) RED-CROSS or visit MaineRedCross.org.
