Turner Public Library has movies, other offerings in December

TURNER — A busy December is planned at Turner Public Library, with events for all ages.

The monthly Board of Trustees meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5. Library Trustee meetings are open to the public, and the public’s attendance and participation are encouraged. The trustees meet on the second floor of the Leavitt Institute at the library.

AT 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, the library will host a screening of the PBS documentary “Being Mortal,” based on the book by Atul Gawande, which addresses the difficulties in discussing and planning for end of life care. Following the film, a discussion will be facilitated by Kyla Greenwood, volunteer coordinator of Beacon Hospice, and take-home materials will be available for participants. The free event is open to the public, however, children may find the subject matter upsetting.

All ages are invited at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, for Family Board Game Night. Participants can play a wide variety of games cooperatively or competitively.

Two movies will be screened at the library during School Administrative District 52 winter break. “Cars 3,” which is rated G, will be shown at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28. “Spiderman: Homecoming,” which is rated PG-13 for violence, some language and brief suggestive comments, will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29. Admission is free, popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase.
