KVCAP seeks to fortify volunteer driving effort

WATERVILLE – Steve Soule has joined the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program transportation staff as volunteer driver recruiter as part of the organization’s efforts to fortify its volunteery driving program.

Volunteer drivers play an integral role, including bringing sick children to medical treatment or elderly people to services. KVCAP Transportation provided 110,000 rides in 2016.

The demand for KVCAP transportation services continues to grow at a steady pace and the organization is looking for compassionate, civic-minded people to volunteer to provide transportation to some of the community’s more vulnerable citizens, the organization said.
KVCAP provides training and a mileage reimbursement for their travel. Volunteers must have a safe, reliable vehicle and pass State background checks to protect passengers.

Soule was a teacher and principal at Clinton Elementary School for many years and most recently was the South End Teen Center coordinator.
