Augusta Elks Dec. 2 craft/vendor fair to raise money for scholarships

AUGUSTA — The Augusta Elks Lodge Scholarship Committee will host its annual Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the lodge, 397 Civic Center Drive.

The fair is open to the public, with no admission fee. It’s one of the club’s annual events to raise money for local scholarships for high school seniors.

Last year, more than $2,500 was awarded to students from Cony, Hall-Dale, Winthrop and Maranacook high schools.

There will be more than 50 craft and vendor tables at the fair, as well as a bake sale, white antler treasures table, Festival of Baskets Silent Auction, table raffles, a photo booth, psychic readings by Louise Staples, breakfast and lunch items, and entertainment by Chris Ariola from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The lodge this year also has started an Antlers program for those ages 12 to 21 years old, the program is open to young people in area communities and is the first in the state. Their parents don’t have to be members for them to join. The program is a way for young people to meet each other and get involved in volunteering in the community.
