BUSINESS PROFILE: Banker’s Life to host Medicare seminar

AUGUSTA — There is no denying that Maine has the oldest average population of any state in the United States. While Maine is a wonderful place to retire, affording all the pleasures offered here is a balancing act of preparing for the future and getting the most out of each day.
If you were not able to put enough money away during your peak earning years, Social Security and Medicare are probably not going to take care of all the needs you will experience after retirement.

Social Security and Medicare were not designed to pay for all of our expenses in retirement and that is the problem faced not only by the citizens of Maine, but across the United States.
Bankers Life, a national life and health insurance company, is sponsoring a Medicare seminar from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and Nov. 4, at Pepper’s Restaurant in Winthrop, to help answer questions about Medicare and taking care of post-retirement needs.
Bankers Life, a national life and health insurance company affiliated with Colonial Penn, offers a wide range of personalized services that best fit the needs of our clients and their families. Like other national insurance companies, Bankers Life has evolved with the needs of clients and offers services beyond supplement Medicare packages, full-service life insurance and retirement plans. The popularity and growth of fixed and indexed annuities and home-health care plans provide security and stability of assets for the future.
Financial advisers at each of the Augusta, Scarborough and Bangor offices assist clients to better understand their options of building retirement equity and retirement protection. Bankers Life financial advisers have completed rigorous training and mandatory licensing guidelines mandated by the state.
A defining difference between Bankers Life and other insurance organizations is the personal relationship between clients and agents. Bankers Life agents continue to make house calls just as our insurance agent did when I was a child. However, we also offer in-office visits in any of the three offices if that best fits the needs of the client.
As Maine remains a largely rural state, house calls is a service that benefits the client and allows an agent to make a connection with the client and better meet the needs of the client. Bankers Life does not push a client to a website or call a 1-800 number; our clients call their servicing agent directly with their questions.
Open enrollment for Medicare plans is October 15-December 7 and allows clients to review their insurance needs and make changes if necessary. Be sure to check your current insurance and retirement plans to assure you are maximizing your benefits and understand your rights and options of Medicare. If you are unsure of your current plan, it is always best to get a second opinion.
